The more time I spend recording and arranging music the more I’m realizing the cold truth behind the process: it doesn’t just happen. It’s not magic. It really is hard work. And perhaps it’s made even harder in ways by the existence of huge programs like Logic that give you so many options and so many possibilities. It’s a lot like a giant playground where you’re allowed to play on anything you want, but after some time you realize just how many different structures there are to play on and you really don’t know what what exactly you want to do. I’ve just spent the last several hours recording different instrument tracks, realizing that they didn’t really fit, and deleting them. I feel I need to go to ben now. Night night.
